Rogelio Acea – December 2011 Report
Beloved Brothers,
With regard to my work at the church I have been preaching (in rotation with Martin and Alfonso) on Sundays and Thursdays and I have been leading Bible studies. I have also been making pastoral visits and I have been counseling three families that are going through some difficult issues. I am also working with three young people to try to restore them in the Lord after their respective falls into different sins and their display of repentance.
I also want to share with you that, of the seven homes where we are leading Bible studies, I am teaching in two of them. I am teaching in El Augustino on Wednesdays and in Las Flores on Fridays. In Las Flores we have begun to go out to evangelize in the parks in the neighborhood after our meetings.
As a church, I would say that even though we are not a perfect church, we are very thankful for what the Lord has done in our midst and through us, having opened our eyes to clearly understand the blessed gospel of the grace of God, manifested through Jesus Christ his Son, who gave himself for sinners such as us. We did not deserve anything and yet He has given us everything, even giving his life. This true understanding of the gospel has produced an awakening in the church of gratefulness and love toward the one who saved us. Because of this, in spite of the trials and difficulties that are never lacking, we are happy and joyful for what the Lord has done up until now.
With regard to the prison ministry, brother Paco and I continue working at it. On December 22nd, we bought the traditional Christmas cakes (Panetones) and we served it along with the traditional hot chocolate to the prisoners in Cell Blocks 3 and 16. We also preached the Word to them and to the authorities that were present. On December 27th we were invited to participate in an activity to celebrate the first year of a program called TAS. We were presented as those who were working in the area of spiritual growth. This was a strong affirmation of our ministry by the authorities of the prison.
We are going to the prison every Tuesday and Thursday. All together we are meeting with a total of twenty six prisoners in two cell blocks. Please pray that the Lord would continue to bless this ministry.
Your Brother in Christ,
Rogelio Acea
